Literature Text

In the year 332 Arigossi was in a state of distress, boiling over with angry rebels, starving commoners, and social injustice.

Thousands of years ago a group of twelve deities emerged from the sea, the volcanoes, the earth, and the air. Three from each. Born of magic and power they saw the world they’d been born to as complete and utter chaos. So in those first hours of the world, the twelve deities formed their bodies and their minds. Becoming the order in the chaos. Using the powers available to them they created the relics that would shape the world as it would be.
First came Aries, the goddess of soldiers and war. She controlled fire in her touch and created a longsword. Next came Taurus, the god of lovers, and the harvest. He would fashion a mace for himself. After him came Gemini, the goddess of the lost, children, and hope, she would create twin daggers for herself. Fourth came Cancer, the goddess of mothers, childbirth, marriage and nurturers. She would carry a shield. Fifth was Leo, the god of men, kings, and strength. His weapon would be a greatsword. Then came Virgo, the goddess of brides, fertility and slaves. She wielded a magic staff. The seventh deity was Libra, the god of justice, fairness, and the wronged, in his possession was a polesword. Then was Scorpio, the god of magic the dead and the merfolk. He wore gauntlets. Sagittarius follows, the goddess of charity, sacrifice and humility. She fashioned a bow. Capricorn was tenth, the goddess of knowledge, queens, women, and wisdom. For her, she created a simple circlet. Aquarius would come next, the god of intrigue, the mind. the arts, and inventors. His relic would be a spear. Last would be Pisces, the god of spirits and spirituality. His weapon would be a trident.
Together the twelve gods fashioned a world out of the chaos. A world that came to be known as Myr. Of the five continents, one massive and powerful landmass would rise from the sea. Arigossi. It would have geography ranging from mountains that kissed the sky, to marshes that sunk deep into the ground. Wars and natural disasters would ravage the land and it would always return to how it once was.
In time, Arigossi divided into nine kingdoms. In the northwest over the icy and barren landscape, Virelian would plant it’s stakes. To the east, in the great Briarwood and Kidwe forests, Aseanna would take root. East of Aseanna, in the black deserts that reached the sea, Umorviel. Glorerien was next, boarding the Elysian Sea and holding itself at the very center of Arigossi. Mirendania would take the land that was most fertile and would someday supply the entire continent. Vassa would take the smallest piece of land but it would be the richest in silver. Legrianna would take the penninsula surrounded by sea, and Graecia would rise up from the collection of islands.
Like all landmasses that eventually become inhabited by humans, Arigossi would become rich in history and cultures. Even after only 300 years. But the true history is what unfolded in the years following.
In the year 305, a young King Aler Silverbow took the throne in Thaellan, Glorerien. At only seventeen years of age, he was inexperienced and unprepared for the weight the crown would bear. But he learned fast. After one year, no one could ever have guessed he was a new king. But that was only the beginning. Aler became king like any other did, his father passed on. His father before him was killed by a band of renegade Orcs and Elves and Shapeshifters. That single event would shape a continent for years to come.
Each kingdom was ruled by a monarch and their consort, they ruled equally and formed a council - The Golden Council - to decide the matters of the whole of Arigossi. Those times when the Golden Council was convened never ended well. No monarchs could agree, and if they did it was on matters that didn’t help. With equal power they never had the vote that vetoed it all. The monarchs were unable to control each other and that's how deep rooted hate and anger evolved within the ruling families. But King Aler was known for one trait, manipulation, and he wielded that power like a dagger. Carefully and strategically manipulating every last member of the council to agree with him completely. He became a tyrant wearing the disguise of a benevolent king.
Aler stripped the magical creatures of all their rights, they could not hold land, they could not rise to power, and they were reduced to slaves and outsiders in a land that was their home. Forced to live in slums and work exhaustion heavily into their bones just to live in an empire that didn’t want them, suicides climbed, and rebellions started. Civil unrest began.
In the year 332, the last seeds of war were sown and the rebellion truly began.
So recently I've been working on the ground work for this series and finally was able to sit down and write after getting all the details in order.

So anyway, here is the prologue, really I wrote it to set the scene of where this is taking place and where it is headed. More chapters to follow!
